Company of Liarsby Karen Maitland |
Dale Israel: I want to thank Carol...I read
"Company of Liars" based on her well written review.
This was probably one of the best books I've read in a long time.
It didn't take long for me to become engrossed in the story and by the end,
I felt as though I had actually traveled with the characters on their journey.
I always love a book when it sweeps me away to another world and this book did
just that. If you're a fan of historical fiction, you'll love this juicy novel.
And the ending...wow!...what a surprise! Loved it!

Carol Donsky Newell: Karen Maitland creates the
atmosphere of 1348, during the Black Plague, with such vibrant visual language
that you feel you are walking through the land next to the group of strangers
trying to outrun the disease. Each of these characters has a secret to hide.
Each has a story to tell. Each is handicapped and helped by the superstitions
of the era. And mystreries abound. The book has been compared to The Canterbury
Tales, and in some aspects that is true, but it's a gripping
read and stands on its own accord, borrowing only from the history of
the times. This is for lovers of mysteries, history, good
writing and interesting characters.
