Lone Wolf

Lone Wolf

by Jodi Picoult

Judy Stanton (12/06/12): I am an admitted Jodi Picoult fan. I've seen her speak a few times in ATL, and she's as good a speaker as a writer. I've heard others say her books become "formulaic," but I have to say, the lady does her homework. Most of her novels have educated as well as entertained me. Lone Wolf is her latest, and her main character, Luke Warren is a naturalist who lives with a wolf pack and understands how they think, how packs function, their sense of family, and even their howls.

She uses the wolves as backdrop for his family life, and, like normal people, each member of the family faces many life challenges-- teenage drinking/driving, coming out as being gay, balancing your old and new families after divorce, sibling rivalry, and more. Never a dull moment in this book, it is a compelling read filled with twists and turns, lies and secrets, and no "fairy tale" ending. Whether or not you've read Jodi Picoult before, I would recommend this book.
