Summertime on the beach brought parties and a summer romance. All was well till Maureen disappeared without a trace at the end of the summer, never to be seen again. Thirty years later, Allison moves to Opal Beach to house-sit an off-season beach house and to lick her wounds after a humiliating and very public divorce. She soon becomes interested in the disappearance of a young girl who went missing a long time ago. This disturbs many people in the community and Allison soon fears for her own safety. The story alternates between Maureen and Allison, maintaining the reader’s interest. The ending is unexpected and surprising, making this a satisfying read. Rating: ****
