The Butterfly's Daughter

The Butterfly's Daughter

by Mary Alice Munroe

Judy Stanton (09/12/12): The Butterfly's Daughter is a coming of age novel about a young Mexican girl brought up in the Midwest US, finding her way back to Mexico and her family roots. Her journey was tied to that of a butterfly, carefully entwined in the story, filled with Mexican traditions and folklore. I felt that the book would make a great young adult novel, but, for the most part, I thought everything worked out a little too well on her journey; I was able to predict pretty easily what was going to happen at every turn. Still, it was a good, quick read.
