The Shoemaker's Wife

The Shoemaker's Wife

by Aeriana Trigiani

Dale Israel (02/27/14): Adriana Trigiani's The Shoemaker's Wife got good reviews on Amazon so I thought I'd give it a go. As a huge fan of historical fiction, and family sagas in particuar, I thought this book would be right up my alley. Starting in the mountains of Italy and moving to the hustle and bustle of NYC, this was your typical "immigrant works hard, faces adversity, overcomes adversity and is a better person for it" type book. While the story was predictable, it remained engrossing and entertaining. I liked the characters and enjoyed the story. It kept me captive though at times the author was more descriptive than necessary. If you enjoy books that have tidy endings you will enjoy this book. I'd say this book is a "B"...good but not great.
