Unbearable Lightness

Unbearable Lightness

by Portia de Rossi

Wanda Cohen: I feel like Portia sliced open her body, soul and heart, and ripped out this book, one painful page at a time. Her description of her years of dieting and eating disorders is graphic and honest. In some places it is almost too intense to read. Her courage and her incredible writing talent make this book a moving look at who she was and how her life was taken over by calorie counting and obsessive exercising and who she is now. You find yourself alternately angry at her and pulling for her. A part of you might also identify with her as we all, at some point in our lives, have struggled with the belief that our body is less than perfect.
